Adelaide singer-songwriter Jen Lush, is known for her dynamic, intimate and adventurous new music, endearing us with her charming vocals in her second single “Icon - song 1”, offering a glimpse into her forthcoming album “Hum Of The Mettle”
Throughout the song her vocals captivate you as she captures the delicacy and sadness that surges with the lyrics. Excerpted from the recent book “Icon” from award-winning poet, lyricist and librettist Maria Zajkowski writes, “My father, Eugienuisz Zajkowski, had a hard, miraculous and normal life. He never intended to be an icon. This collection preserves some of what I lost to his Alzheimer’s. And then, what I lost when he died.”
Showcasing delicate guitar that outlines an ethereal soundscape, gradually expanding with layered acoustic and electric guitars, percussion, drums and celestial keyboards, all surrounding the evocative lyrics
Despite the sadness, Jen delivers a lighter melodic treatment that by contrast makes the song all the more poignant
The musical arrangement is fascinating as it shifts between the quiet acoustic guitar and the swelling of the surrounding instrumentation, in a folk pop track laced with the bittersweet."
