Music Review - Josh Orange Confronts a Broken World in 'Believers & Dreamers (What Have We Become)'

Music Review - Josh Orange Confronts a Broken World in 'Believers & Dreamers (What Have We Become)'

“Believers & Dreamers (What Have We Become)" by Josh Orange doesn’t just play—it pushes. From the opening lines, there’s a sense of frustration boiling just under the surface, and it only grows stronger as the track unfolds

Starting off sounding like a typical indie rock track, but then the lyrics hit. Not poetic in a pretty way, more like a gut-punch. That line—“I should keep my head down but I don’t”—just stuck. Felt like someone saying what they’ve been holding back for too long.

The song feels tired, but not in a bad way. Tired of how things are, of people in charge doing whatever they want. There’s no fake hope here, just someone who’s fed up.

The guitars grind a bit, vocals sound kind of worn out (again, not in a bad way). Drums keep things moving but nothing feels clean or polished yet it works though.....It’s real.

And that chorus—“Over and over again, it’s a race to the bottom that never ends.” we’ve thought that before. Maybe not in those words, but yeah, totally get it.

Is there hope in the title? Believers & Dreamers? Not sure. Maybe it’s sarcasm, maybe it’s what we used to be. Now we’re just trying to keep our heads above water.

We don’t think the song wants to fix anything. It just lays it out, lets you sit with it, and honestly, that’s enough sometimes.
