Nick Hedden doesn’t overthink things on “Is That So Wrong?” — and honestly, that’s the whole appeal. The song rolls in with the kind of energy that feels built for neon-lit bars, cheap beer, and nights that somehow turn into mornings before anyone notices. It’s fun, loud, a little reckless, and fully aware of what it wants to be.
The track leans hard into that dive-bar atmosphere. You can almost picture the jukebox glowing in the corner while everybody shouts the chorus back with a drink in hand. Lyrics about staying out all night and “livin’ on dive bar time” could’ve come off cliché in the wrong hands, but Hedden sells them because he sounds comfortable inside the story he’s telling, nothing feels forced.
One of the best parts of the song is how easy it is to latch onto. The “la da da da da” sections are simple, sure, but they stick in your head after one listen. It feels less like a carefully engineered radio hook and more like something that probably happened naturally during a late-night jam session. That loose feeling gives the song personality.
Musically, the track keeps things straightforward in a good way. Crunchy guitars, steady drums, a little southern swagger — no unnecessary tricks. The production leaves enough room for the song’s attitude to carry the weight. It sounds clean without sanding off the rough edges that make this style of music fun in the first place.
There’s also something refreshing about how unapologetic the whole thing is. Hedden isn’t trying to turn a simple good-time anthem into some deep statement about life. The song knows exactly what it is: a soundtrack for people blowing off steam after a long week. Sometimes that honesty works better than overcomplicated songwriting.
