James Shumway’s latest piano instrumental "To the One I Love" is more than just music, it’s a love letter written in notes in a world where words sometimes fail to capture the depth of emotion.
What makes this piece stand out is how effortlessly it pulls you in, making you feel every note, as it eloquently translates love into pure sound, crafting an intimate and emotional journey.
The accompanying visuals, filmed in Aspen Grove with the stunning Mount Timpanogos in the background, bring an added layer of beauty to the experience.
There’s a stillness in this piece that invites reflection, yet it’s not cold or distant. Instead, it feels warm and welcoming, like an open space where emotions can come and go freely. James does more than just play piano, he creates a moment of connection, where music becomes the language of the heart
To the One I Love is a stunning, emotional offering, a musical embodiment of a love letter that will resonate with anyone who’s ever experienced deep affection. It’s the kind of piece that doesn’t just touch the heart; it holds it gently in the palms of your hands, asking nothing in return but to be felt.
This piano solo follows on the heels of two other piano recordings, "IOU" and “Regrets,” “IOU” capturing the ecstasy of falling in love and finding one’s soulmate, “Regrets” the agony of a tormented soul, unable to change the past
James Shumway began training as a classical pianist at age 6, and began writing music at age 9. His piano compositions have been compared stylistically to those of Rachmaninoff and other Romantic Period composers.
